Big Sam’s Paints’ artwork is known for its bright, fresh colors and positive messages. Sam’s artwork explores ideas surrounding growth, optimistic mindfulness, and future. The artwork is often representational, but abstract within the lines. Sam utilizes his ever developing style of hatch-like mark making techniques and color harmonies to build up and create his paintings. The paintings are created like a dance, or music, and typically speak to current events that are happening around us. Sam is heavily inspired by a combination of pop culture, the sublime, cubism, surrealism, realism, and many other artistic movements. In addition, Sam loves nature and most often takes inspiration from the world in which he lives. If that be a walk down the street and coming across a leaf of a plant, a piece of trash, graffiti, or the way someone holds the door for you at the tea shop. Sam has a huge passion for public artwork and the positive power color and imagery alone can add to the surrounding community and daily life of individuals - through both the installation process and final artwork!
Sam Weinberger grew up in rural Sunapee New Hampshire before moving to Boston for art school. Once in Boston, Big Sam started to paint live in the city streets. This eventually led to opportunities of all kinds like painting performances, commissions, murals, news coverage, graphic design jobs, photographers, and cool people!
Since Corona Virus, in lack of the street performances, Big Sam started creating short films of his art process and uploading them to his Youtube Channel, Big Sam Studio. (click here to view the channel). As well, he stays consistent on posting process and final projects on Instagram.
Big Sam’s Paints has been painting public and private mural projects full-time for the last five years. Projects have been completed all around the streets of New England, New York, Florida, Colorado, and overseas.
Big Sam’s paints is project-based.
